Anticipated Faculty Positions 2013-2014

All open faculty positions are ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective September 1, 2013 unless otherwise indicated. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses are taught at the Union campus but some positions may include assignments at Ocean County College in Toms River, New Jersey or other locations.


All faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college and university level is also required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructionaltechnologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. All positions are subject to availability of funds, due to financial exigencies.

 

 


College of Business and Public Management

School of Accounting and Finance

Accounting – to teach Auditing and Intermediate Accounting. Will conduct research and submit publications on an on-going basis and provide service and scholarly activities to support the mission of the University. The position will support both the undergraduate and graduate accounting programs of the School. Candidate will be expected to provide vision and guidance in accounting education and the profession, mentor students and participate in the experiential education of accounting students. The candidate also must have interest or experience in using computer-based instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process.


Qualifications: Doctorate in Accounting or Management (with a concentration in Accounting) from an AACSB- or EQUIS-accredited program and a clearly established research agenda with some demonstration of success in scholarship required; ABD considered with completion date by September 1, 2013.

College of Education

Department of Special Education and Literacy *Search Extended and Revised* - to concentrate on all aspects of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Teaching assignment at the undergraduate and graduate levels will include use of Applied Behavior analysis (ABA), behavioral interventions for home, school and community and application of Assistive Technology for individuals with developmental disabilities including autism. Other duties include development of a BCBA program and scholarship and research in special education.


Qualifications: Doctorate degree and Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification required. BCBA certification is preferred.

Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Health – to teach lecture and laboratory courses in Athletic Training at the sophomore, junior and senior levels. Responsibilities include placement and evaluation of students in field experiences, assessment of student proficiencies, student advisement and ongoing program accreditation work.


Qualifications: Doctoral Degree in Athletic Training or a related field; BOC certification; a NJ Athletic Trainer’s License or license-eligibility; experience in Athletic Training skill evaluation; and clinical supervision experience required. ABD considered with completion date by September 1, 2013. Candidate must have familiarity with the CAATE accreditation process.

College of Natural, Applied and Health Sciences

School of Nursing (Two Positions - Associate Professor)


Curriculum Specialist – Ph.D. in Nursing Educational Leadership program opening in September 2013. There are three components of the new Ph.D. program being initiated: preparation for seminal research, advanced pedagogy and clinical expertise. This position is for an expert in curriculum design principles, program development and implementation, faculty role innovation and learning outcomes measurement with applications to health and educational settings. Responsibilities span the full range of faculty activities including: teaching Ph.D. curriculum-related courses through dissertation supervision and completion; selected courses in the MSN programs; active scholarly research and publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals; presentations at conferences; grantsmanship; recruitment, advisement and mentoring of post-baccalaureate students; advanced leadership on University committees; and participation in curriculum design for new program initiatives and outcomes assessment of current programs.


Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Nursing or a related field; current Registered Nurse license or license-eligible in the State of New Jersey; a documented track record of peer-reviewed publications; the ability to teach curriculum and principles, concepts, values and approaches to graduate and doctoral candidates; successful research as a Principal Investigator; certification in a nursing clinical specialty, as well as demonstrated international/global activities; future research agenda; experience teaching in a doctoral program; and experience serving on a dissertation committee for several doctoral projects is required.


Graduate Coordinator- Graduate Coordinator for the three School of Nursing graduate programs: MSN in Clinical Administration, School Nursing and Community Health Nursing and participation in the anticipated Ph.D. program. With a student population of over 600+ RN-BSN and MSN students, NLN accreditation, vibrant enterprises within a Center for Nursing Research and an active Global Nursing Initiative, growth and further development are the hallmarks of our strategic plan. Responsibilities address the primary graduate education leadership role encompassing the areas of: oversight of graduate and doctoral-level curriculum and program development; student learning outcome assessments; scheduling; teaching; on-going scholarship; grantsmanship; external agency contracts and relationships; University service; and the overall organization and supervision of the School of Nursing’s post-baccalaureate programs’ productivity, ethical/legal parameters and goal achievements.


Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Nursing; current Registered Nurse license or license-eligible in the State of New Jersey; three to five years of experience in teaching in graduate level academic roles; and knowledge of curriculum design, implementation and evaluation required. Two to five years of leadership experience in academic and/or clinical settings; a history of some outcomes measurement responsibilities; excellent communication competencies; evidence of scholarship on a regional and national level; knowledge of the essentials of grant writing; membership and participation in professional organizations; and certification in a clinical specialty is preferred.

Department of Computer Science – seeking an active scholar and dedicated teacher to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. Candidate must demonstrate scholarly capability and an established and active independent research agenda in one of several core areas of interest, including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence; algorithms; data mining;analytics; databases; and game design and development.

College of Visual and Performing Arts

Robert Busch School of Design (Three Positions)

Design: Motion Graphics and Animation – to teach, mentor and guide undergraduate studio and lecture classes in the BFA and BID degree programs. Subject areas to be taught include motion graphics, animation, character design, visual storytelling and pitching, expressive image-making and illustration, multi-media digital arts and design theory. Additional responsibilities include the assessment of School of Design motion and animation courses and development of a major program. The position also includes advising students, committee participation, community and campus service, continued professional and creative work and contact with the field.


Qualifications: Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Animation, Digital Arts, Motion and/or a related field required. Candidate must have a minimum of five years of professional experience and a record of nationally and internationally award-winning creative work in animation design, and/or TV and film advertising, pre-production and pitching, character design and storytelling. Additional experience in graphic design, design theory and game design preferred.


Design: Interactive Web and Screen-based Design *Search Extended and Revised* – to teach, mentor and guide undergraduate studio and lecture classes in the BFA and BID degree programs and develop and coordinate the interactive web and screen-based design program concentration area. Subjects to be taught include, but are not limited to: design of web, mobile and other screen based platforms along with design of interface, information architecture and content for user engagement. Responsibilities also include the coordination and assessment of the School of Design interactive web design and screen-based design program concentration area.  Additional responsibilities include shared BFA program, college and university work including, but not limited to: advising students, attending School and University events, committee participation, community service and inter-program collaboration with School of Design faculty and students and continued professional work in the field.


Qualifications: Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Interactive Web Design, Graphic Design with focus on interactive web and screen-based design or a related field required. Candidate must have experience and achievement in the relevant professional field; relevant and related publications and/or creative work; and teaching experience in higher education. 

 

Design: Interactive Advertising and Brand Strategist *Search Extended and Revised* –to teach, mentor and guide undergraduate studio and lecture classes in the BFA programs. Subjects to be taught include, but are not limited to: Advertising Design and Art Direction; Branded Content and Design; Digital Interactive Advertising Design and Technologies; Cross-Platform Campaign Strategies and Design; Portfolio Development; and Entrepreneurship. Additional responsibilities include the assessment and coordination of the School of Design advertising and branding design courses and concentration. The position also includes advising students, committee participation, community and campus service, continued scholarly/creative and professional work and contact with the field.


Qualifications:This position requires a Master’s degree in Design or a related field; a minimum of five years of experience; award-winning achievement in the relevant professional field; and professional experience with integrating advertising, graphic design and media planning with the creative process. Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or Master of Professional Studies in Design and experience in and working alongside strategic planners and creatives to create branded content and campaigns that seamlessly combine design platforms (web/mobile etc.), channels (social media) and formats (print/screen/environments) is preferred. Candidate must also have relevant and related publications and/or creative work and three or more years teaching experience in higher education.

Nathan Weiss Graduate College

Department of Advanced Studies in Psychology/Psy.D. – to teach in both the Psy.D. program in Combined and Integrated School and Clinical Psychology and the Master’s and professional Diploma program in School Psychology. In addition, the candidate will also be expected to mentor graduate students in school and clinical psychology, direct dissertation and supervise clinical practica in our training clinic. The successful candidate will possess a strong practitioner-scientist philosophy, cognitive behavioral orientation, ongoing program of research as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications and national conference presentations and potential for extramural funding.


Qualifications: Doctorate in clinical, school or combined school and clinical psychology required. Preferred clinical and/or research interests are the broad area of clinical health psychology/clinical psychology in primary care/pediatric-health psychology (e.g., school-based health promotion or prevention models) or the treatment and assessment of trauma,complex PTSD and or violence/aggression, particularly in underserved populations.
