Anticipated Faculty Positions 2014-2015

All open faculty positions are ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective September 1, 2014 unless otherwise indicated. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses are taught at the Union campus but some positions may include assignments at Ocean County College in Toms River, New Jersey or other locations.

All faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college and university level is also required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. All positions are subject to availability of funds, due to financial exigencies.


College of Business and Public Management

School of Accounting and Finance
Accounting: Auditing and Cost– to teach and assist with program development. There is an opportunity to teach both in the undergraduate and graduate programs.

Qualifications: Doctorate degree in Accounting required, preferably from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution. ABD considered with completion date by September 1, 2014. Teaching experience is also required, as is a strong interest in and commitment to best practices in professional accounting and global education. CPA strongly preferred. Teaching expertise in the areas of Auditing and Cost Accounting and an active research agenda also preferred. Relevant practical accounting and business experience is desired. Experience with computerized accounting systems a plus.

School of Global Business (Two Positions)
Entrepreneurship and Management– to teach and conduct research in entrepreneurship, managing innovation and new product development. There is an opportunity to teach in both the undergraduate and MBA program.

Qualifications: Doctorate degree in management or a related discipline required, preferably from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution. ABD considered with completion date by September 1, 2014. Teaching experience is also required, as is a strong interest in and commitment to best practices in international education. Relevant practical business experience is desired.

Global Marketing – to teach and conduct research in international marketing, consumer behavior and marketing research. There is an opportunity to teach in both the undergraduate and MBA program.

College of Natural, Applied and Health Sciences

Department of Computer Science
Seeking a dedicated teacher and active scholar to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. The Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate research and offers three undergraduate degrees (B.S. in Computer Science, CS/Information Systems and Information Technology) and a graduate degree (M.S. in Computer Information Systems).

Qualifications: Terminal degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field; demonstrated scholarly capability; and an established and active independent research agenda in one of several core areas of interest, including, but not limited to, algorithms, data mining, analytics, databases and web programming required. Candidates with industry and teaching experience are encouraged to apply.

School of Natural Sciences
Biochemistry – the School of Natural Sciences offers undergraduate ACS-certified degrees and is seeking a candidate who specializes in bioorganic chemistry and/or who can contribute to interdisciplinary science offerings to begin in August 2014. Candidate will be a highly effective teacher and is expected to establish and maintain an active, externally funded research program involving undergraduates.

Qualifications: Doctorate degree required. Post-doctoral training is preferred.

School of Nursing (Three Positions)
Research Specialist Ph.D. Program (Assistant/Associate) – the Ph.D. in Nursing Educational Leadership program at Kean Ocean is anticipated to begin in January 2014. There are three components of the new Ph.D. program being initiated: preparation for seminal research, advanced pedagogy and clinical expertise. This position is for an expert in qualitative and quantitative research design principles, project development, implementation and evaluation. Particular areas of focus include faculty role innovation and learning outcomes measurement with a focus on health and education issues, problems and settings. Responsibilities span a full range of faculty activities including, but not limited to: teaching Ph.D. research-related courses through dissertation supervision and completion; selected courses in the MSN programs; and active scholarly research and publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals.

Qualifications: Doctorate degree; current Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey or the equivalent; and a documented track record of peer-reviewed publications required. ABD considered with completion date by September 1, 2014. The ability to teach curriculum principles, concepts, values and approaches to graduate and doctoral candidates is important.

Nursing (Assistant/Associate) - to assume teaching and related responsibilities for both didactic and clinical areas, as well as academic and career advisement in the RN-BSN and MSN programs at one of our Ocean, Union, Bergen, Middlesex or Raritan Valley sites. Other duties include, but are not limited to: responsibilities related to participation in the Center for Nursing Research and graduate research symposium; various curriculum development; assessment of student outcomes measurements; other initiatives; and an on-going research agenda and publications in peer-reviewed national journals.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Nursing; current Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey or the equivalent; and peer-reviewed scholarship required. An earned research doctorate in Nursing or a related field or dissertation phase degree in Nursing from an accredited program preferred.

College of Visual and Performing Arts

Robert Busch School of Design
Interior Design - to teach undergraduate studio and lecture courses within the CIDA accredited interior design program. Areas of specialty include sustainability design, CAD/Rivet and additional technologies for interior design. Candidate will teach at the Union campus and non-teaching hours will be devoted to advising and providing other support services to students. The ideal candidate will develop a research and/or creative scholarship program that includes refereed publications, scholarly presentations and grantsmanship appropriate to an assistant academic level; seek external funding; participate in innovative teaching and curriculum development; actively participate in professional organizations; and assist the Program Coordinator in the development of a Master’s program in Sustainable/Environmental Design.

Qualifications: Master’s degree or MFA in Interior Design, Architecture or a related field required. Candidate must have two years of previous teaching experience at the college level or three years of professional business practice. NCIDQ certification, LEED AP credentials and a proven record of academic scholarship preferred. Technical skills in CAD, Revit, 3D Studio Max and InDesign highly desirable.

Nathan Weiss Graduate College

Department of Advanced Studies in Psychology/Psy.D.
To teach in both the Psy.D. program in Combined School and Clinical Psychology and Professional Diploma program in School Psychology. In addition, the candidate will also be expected to mentor graduate students in school and clinical psychology, direct dissertations and supervise clinical practica in our training clinic.

Qualifications: Doctorate in clinical, school or combined school and clinical psychology required, with strong preference for certification as a school psychologist. Preferred clinical and/or research interests are the broad area of school psychology, diverse and/or underserved populations, applied behavioral analysis, pediatric assessment, primary care/pediatric-health psychology (e.g., school-based health promotion or prevention models) or autism assessment and treatment. The successful candidate will possess a strong practitioner-scientist philosophy, cognitive behavioral orientation, an ongoing program of research as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications and national conference presentations and potential for extramural funding.

Department of Graduate Management Studies (Two Positions)
Global Management- to teach graduate and undergraduate level courses. The new faculty member is expected to be active in expanding the department’s global network into new regions. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate a research and teaching record at the graduate level in the areas of international HR management, cross cultural management, global business simulation, global leadership and other related topics.

Qualifications: Proven research record and doctorate degree required, preferably from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution with a major in International Business/Global Management. ABD considered with completion date by September 1, 2014.

Global Supply Chain Management- to teach graduate and undergraduate level courses. The new faculty member is expected to be active in expanding the department’s global network into new regions. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate a research and teaching record at the graduate level in the areas of operations management, supply chain management, knowledge management, quantitative methods and other related topics.

Qualifications: Proven research record and doctorate degree required, preferably from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution with a major in Supply Chain Management. ABD considered with completion date by September 1, 2014.

New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics

(Two Positions)
Chemical Biologist – to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the core programs of the Center and in areas related to expertise. Candidates knowledgeable in the general area of chemical biology, with research interests in any area encompassed by the field of chemical biology will be considered. Research experience in discovery pharmacology (bioassays, on/off target activity and in vitro pharmacology) is required.

Computational Biologist – to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the core programs of the Center and in areas related to expertise. All areas of computational biology and bioinformatics will be considered. Candidates with a demonstrated record of developing and/or applying computational approaches to study biological big-data questions in areas including comparative genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, evolutionary genomics, cell and molecular biology and systems biology are especially encouraged to apply.

Qualifications for both positions: Doctorate or MD degree in any discipline of science, engineering or medicine required. Candidates will be expected to establish an active research program, seek extramural funding, teach, train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students and actively participate in strengthening and expanding connections with surrounding life science companies.
