Assistant to the President for Wenzhou-Kean University
Kean University is searching for a high-level manager with academic and leadership experience and qualifications to manage and coordinate all activities related to the University’s additional location in Wenzhou, China. Academic programming, student services, financial transactions and related operations require full integration and cooperation between the Kean USA location and the Wenzhou, China campus. The Assistant to the President will participate in the management of all operational areas as assigned. The responsibilities of this position are equivalent to that of a provost reporting directly to the President of Kean University. This position is located at the Kean USA campus but travel is required as the employee will spend considerable time at the Wenzhou, China campus several times each year.
Kean is the first American public university authorized by the Chinese Ministry of Education to establish a comprehensive higher education institution in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, just south of Shanghai. This campus will be serving tier one students at undergraduate and graduate levels. World-class research is an important component of the vision, especially in the areas of business and environmental and sustainability sciences. Construction has already begun in China on the 200 plus acres campus that will house and educate 10,000 full-time students by 2020. The Chinese authorities have already allocated 2.7 billion RMB of funding for this endeavor and several academic and residential facilities are complete and currently serving about 1,000 students.
Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college and a minimum of three years of high-level managerial experience required. A doctorate degree is preferred and may be substituted for one year of the indicated experience. Candidate must possess the drive to carry out the responsibilities of this pioneering project.
