SELS students in these programs will develop a strong foundation in the Biological Sciences while developing detailed expertise in one of the Concentrations, and will apply their knowledge to the environment around them through specialized course work and individual and team-based scientific research projects. All SELS Biological Sciences graduates will be fully prepared to pursue advanced graduate or professional degrees within the many areas of the environmental and life sciences, for career opportunities in local, state, and federal government agencies associated with such areas as planning and development of growth, natural resource management and conservation, environmental monitoring and assessment, and for career opportunities in the private and public research sector, or the regional biotechnology, health care, and pharmaceutical industries.
