Chemistry

The SELS will offer Chemistry programs that are special concentrations associated with the ACS-accredited BS in Chemistry offered by the School of Natural Sciences.  Although degrees will not be ACS accredited, they will offer similar content with the emphasis in upper level courses in environmental chemistry.  These lecture and laboratory courses will consist of environmental chemistry, green chemistry and courses on quality assessment of air, water, etc.  Since the area of environmental chemistry is becoming more important than ever, this major should attract many students interested in careers as environmental chemists, environmental planners, hazardous waste chemists, and chemical regulatory officers.  SELS students who pursue this option in chemistry will be prepared for careers in these fields as well as go onto graduate school in these areas as well.
