CLARIFIES STATEMENT OF FEBRUARY 15, 2012

On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Kean University, I want to make it clear that the Board’s majority decision to retain President Farahi was unrelated to its request for a more comprehensive Academic Integrity Policy for the University.

During our long and careful deliberations, we noticed that the University’s Academic Integrity Policy was not as comprehensive as those in place in other universities. While we made this observation during our investigation, it did not inform the majority’s decision to retain President Farahi. That was an entirely separate matter, discussed in an entirely different context.

As we discussed how the University should now move forward, we agreed to recommend a clearer Academic Integrity Policy. This, we believe, will benefit faculty, administrators, staff and students alike in the future.
