SELS Biological Sciences Faculty
STATEMENT FROM THE FACULTY OF SELS:
The philosophy of the faculty in SELS is that graduates from our programs should demonstrate a clear understanding of the connections among all the sciences, and between science and society, and be adept at identifying, addressing, discerning, and communicating regional, national, and global issues and solutions across the environmental and life sciences to scientists, the general public, and governmental agencies and decision-makers. We believe these characteristics and outcomes are critical for the success of the next generation of scientists, who must observe, analyze, interpret, and address highly complex environmental and biological challenges now and into the future. To achieve success in developing these characteristics in our students and achieving these outcomes, the SELS faculty will provide students the critically needed scientific background, powerful research skills, critical thinking capability, communication skills, and social awareness to succeed as that next generation of scientists through implementation of our core strategies which are to:
· Establish a Research Enterprise
· Provide an Adaptive Curriculum
· Produce Community Participants and Leaders
· Engineer Solutions through Global and Local Partnerships
