ABOUT STUDENT LIFE & MEDIA SERVICES
Student Life and Media Services was established in 2008 within the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs to supplement the programs and services provided to Kean University students, faculty and staff within the Division of Student Affairs by providing communication, marketing and technological support services and assistance to Student Affairs administrative units.
In collaboration with the Office of Media and Publications and the Office of Computer and Information Services, Student Life and Media Services serves as a central location for the dissemination of student-centered information, services and programs through the use of print, electronic and technological avenues of communication.
MISSION STATEMENT
Student Life and Media Services, within the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, is committed to supporting the mission of the Division of Student Affairs by promoting student awareness of programs, services and co-curricular opportunities that contributes to the emotional, intellectual, cultural, and social development of students. Student Life and Media Services also works in conjunction with other administrative units to facilitate student communication through the utilization of current and emerging media technologies.
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
The Cougar's Byte
The Cougar's Byte, the Kean University student newsletter operating out of the Center for Leadership and Service, publishes weekly during the fall and spring semesters, with special editions throughout the year, in both print and online format. Student Life and Media Services works with the staff of the newsletterto provide professional guidance and leadership to the students who plan, organize, design and publish The Cougar's Byte.
Graphic Design
In consultation with the Office of Media and Publications, Student Life and Media Services provides graphic design services to the units within the Division of Student Affairs, producing print advertisements, brochures, web graphics and publications.
Mobile Applications
In collaboration with the Office of Computer and Information Services, Student Life and Media services is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Kean University's mobile application suite, Kean Mobile.
Social Media Management
Student Life and Media Services serves as the University-wide central location for the use of social media technology, such as Facebook and Twitter, by establishing and maintaining the University's official social media presence and providing guidance and support to other administrative units and student organizations that utilize social media.
Student Affairs Assessment
Student Life and Media Services provides technological support and assistance to divisional units in the implementation of assessment projects.
Student Communications
Serving as a central location within the Division of Student Affairs for the dissemination of information, Student Life and Media Services provides assistance to divisional units to disseminate information through the Kean University E-mail system and campus-wide display network.
Website Maintenance
Student Life and Media Services works with divisional units to design, create and maintain divisional websites.
