Welcome Week Mission Statement
The mission of the Welcome Week Steering Committee is to coordinate student programs and activities that will welcome Kean University residential and commuter students to campus life and a new academic year. The committee will also work to foster a sense of responsibility and commitment throughout the entire University community to take part in a unified effort to welcome new and returning students.
Welcome Week Goals
The goals of Welcome Week are:
- to provide access to information and resources that will promote personal and academic success, wellness and responsible decision-making;
- to provide opportunities for meaningful interaction that will build and maintain relationships between students, faculty, staff and administrators; and
- to build community and foster a sense of institutional pride and respect.

First-Year and Transfer Student Move-In
12 noon to 7 p.m. - Residence Halls
Move-ins will take place on Monday, August 29, 2011 between 12 noon and 7 p.m. through Downs Hall. Please enter the campus via the Green Lane entrance and park any vehicles in the Vaughn-Eames parking lot. Students with last names that begin with M - Z will be permitted to move-in from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Students with the last names that begin with A - L will be permitted to move-in from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Office of Residence Life strongly encourages students to bring hand-trucks for move-ins. All resident students are required to attend a floor meeting with their respective Resident Assistant(s) on their respective floors within the Kean University Residence Halls. Synopsis: Two people who can't stand each other are forced to care for the same child in this domestic comedy drama starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel. Holly Heigl is a caterer whose career is just getting off the ground; Eric Duhamel directs sports for a major network. Their first date was a nightmare, and now they're about to become a family. When their goddaughter Sophie's parents both perish in a tragic accident, Holly and Eric are informed that they were singled out as Sophie's caretakers in the event of an unforeseen disaster. Now, in order to raise Sophie right, this bickering pair must put their differences aside while mastering the fine art of parenthood. Coordinating their new lives and getting along won't be easy for Eric and Holly, but somewhere between the conflicting schedules and drastic lifestyle changes, the reluctant couple realizes that with a help from Sophie, they're starting to resemble a real family.

Trip: Day At The Beach: Sandy Hook Beach Clean Up and Trip
Shuttle Departs Kean University at 9 a.m. - Sandy Hook National Recreation Area
Help your environment and clean one of New Jersey's busiest beaches during Labor Day weekend. A shuttle will depart Kean University and take volunteers to Sandy Hook National Recreation Area where they will help clean the beach. Following the beach clean-up all of the students will be able to stay on the beach and enjoy one of the last beach days of summer FREE of charge! Additional information will be available soon.
