Eduardo del Valle

Associate Vice President for Facilities and Campus Planning

Kean University
Union, New Jersey

Eduardo del Valle was named associate vice president for facilities and campus planning at Kean University in 1997. A member of the Kean community for more than 10 years, del Valle has been influential in transforming the University's physical appearance during the last decade. Under his watch, the campus has improved by leaps and bounds in both function and form, dramatically adding to the allure of the University.

Responsible for the physical appearance of Kean University, del Valle is charged with management and oversight of the University's multi-million dollar capital construction program and all facilities management, as well as all maintenance, trade and custodial labor. Del Valle arrived at Kean in 1991 as the director of planning and construction and immediately took steps to repair or replace elements of what had become an antiquated infrastructure. The New Academic Building, as well as the addition and renovation of the Nancy Thompson Library and upgrades to Kean's athletics facilities provide the most recent evidence of del Valle's success. A licensed architect and planner by trade, he was also instrumental in the development of the University's 1999 Facilities Master Plan, which provides the blueprint for development in the first decade of the new millennium. Designs for new construction are drafted in conjunction with outside consultants and a planning committee, and are coordinated by del Valle's office. In addition, Del Valle's responsibilities expanded last July when he was placed in charge of regulatory compliance for fire safety and environmental health issues on campus.

Del Valle is an active member of several professional organizations and on-campus and community groups, including the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), the American Planning Association (APA), the executive board of the Hispanic Association of College Employees (HACE), The American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers. He has also served on numerous campus and statewide committees.

Del Valle earned a master of public administration degree from Kean University and a bachelor of architecture degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
