About

The New York Times described flutist Lisa Hansen’s playing as “irresistibly lyrical”. Ms. Hansen performed the Niëlsen Flute Concerto at Symphony Space in a sold-out concert with New York Scandia Symphony. Her recording of the Niëlsen Flute Concerto for Centaur was selected by Fanfare as a "Best of the Year" recording, and they described her performance as “brilliant…vital, idiomatic, vigorous, exciting, propulsive, gorgeous… This is the most enjoyable performance of the work known to me, either live or recorded.” Formerly principal flutist of the Mexico City Philharmonic, Ms. Hansen is an avid champion of Latin American and Spanish music. Her recording of Rodrigo's Concierto Pastoral with the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (EMI Classics) won critical acclaim. She performs and records with the GRAMMY nominated North/South Consonance ensemble. Ms. Hansen has concertized extensively in the United States, Latin America, and Europe. A graduate of The Juilliard School, she was featured in the EMMY award-winning CBS TV documentary: “Juilliard & Beyond - A Life in Music.” An active chamber musician, she is flutist with All Seasons Chamber Players, a leading New York area ensemble. Ms. Hansen is an adjunct Flute Professor at Kean University.
