Academic Attire
Please arrive with your caps and gowns; they will not be available on site. GOWNS SHOULD BE PRESSED! The cap is worn level on the head, slightly forward, never tilted, with the tassel on the front-right. Gowns should be approximately 8 inches from the floor (a temporary hem can be sewn if needed). Please read the information about ordering caps and gowns. As part of the procession will include walking down several flights of stairs, we recommend that you wear flat, comfortable shoes.

Line-up Procedure
Please be dressed and ready to form the processional line promptly at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lots to the left of the main amphitheatre. You will line-up according to major and college as instructed by the marshals.

Procession
You will follow bagpipers, platform guests and faculty up a short walkway and enter the amphitheatre. At that point, the marshals will direct you where to sit. Please follow their instructions.

Awarding of Degrees
Commencement will take place in two parts. During the main ceremony, your degree will be conferred as you and your fellow students stand as a group. You will not have your name called individually at that time.

If you wish to have your name called individually while you cross the stage, receive your diploma cover and have your photo taken, you will have that opportunity during a second event, which will take place approximately one-half hour after the conclusion of the main ceremony. Please listen to the instructions that will be given during the main ceremony. If you stay for the second event, you will be required to remain until all the names have been called. If you do not wish to stay for the second ceremony, you may pick up a diploma cover in the breakfast/robing/diploma cover area adjacent to the amphitheatre.

Recessional
There will not be a recessional at the conclusion of the main ceremony. Please exit slowly in an orderly fashion as directed by the marshals.

Photo Opportunities
We understand that this is an important day to be remembered in photographs. If you should decide to remain after the main ceremony to be individually recognized, professional photographers from Chappell, Inc. will be on hand to capture the moment when you receive your diploma cover.

For those who prefer not to remain for the second ceremony but would still like a professional graduation photograph, Chappell, Inc. will also be available in the photo tent located off the processional path (see map). There, you may have your graduation portrait taken, and include family members and friends if you wish.

These photos are taken without obligation, and you will receive a free proof of your photo in the mail five to seven days following the ceremony. At that time, you may place orders or obtain answers to questions at www.chappell.com or by calling 1-800-424-3686.

The use of cameras and video cameras is allowed for personal use only. Guests will not be permitted to approach the student-seating area or stage to take photos during either ceremony.

Food Concessions
There will be food and beverages available at concession stands outside the main amphitheatre area before and after the main Commencement exercises, but sales will cease during the main ceremony. No food or beverages will be permitted inside the amphitheatre during the ceremonies.

First Aid
There will be uniformed Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) stationed throughout the complex during the ceremony. Students and guests may notify ushers or EMTs in case of a problem. There is also a first-aid office next to the front gate, and an ambulance will be positioned to the left of the front gates.

Courtesy
Please be courteous throughout the ceremony. Turn off all electronic devices. Also, please do not leave the amphitheatre until the ceremony is over. Do not bring any flying objects into the Arts Center, including frisbees or beach balls.
Violators may be ejected.
