Many
positions with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, think
tanks, and other international institutions require candidates to have
Masters degrees. For this reason and due to continued thirst for
knowledge, many Kean University students go on to graduate school.
Kean Universitys Nathan
Weiss Graduate College offers several advanced degrees that provide
preparation for various careers in international affairs. Such programs
include:
Master of Arts in Communication Studies
Master of Arts in Liberal Studies
Master of Arts in Political Science
Master of Public Administration
Master of Science in Computing, Statistics, and Mathematics
Master of Science in Management Information Systems
(MSMIS)
Information on universities that offer graduate degrees in international
affairs is available on the Association of Professional Schools of International
Affairs website, www.apsia.org.
Fellowships
While individual universities often offer fellowships or other awards,
there are many sources of external funding. The Institute for Foreign
Service & Diplomacy provides students with resources to search for
such awards and assists them in the application process. Students should
view the Institutes database,
which includes listings of fellowship opportunities.
In particular, students are strongly encouraged to apply for fellowships
specifically designed to fund those who are academically and professionally
prepared to enter the U.S. Foreign Service, such as the Thomas
R. Pickering Fellowship, run by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship
Foundation, and the Charles
B. Rangel Fellowship, awarded by the Ralph J. Bunche International
Affairs Center at Howard University.
