Kean Connections
In this new section, Kean Connections, Kean News will feature a series of fun-filled games and trivia that may teach you something new about Kean.
What Am I?
This building is named for an integral member of the Kean staff who took the lead in rousing alumni resistance when Governor Alfred E. Driscoll proposed merging Newark State Teachers College, Kean’s predecessor, with another teachers college in the 1950s. During World War II, she had taken great pains to write virtually every alumnus in the armed services, and when she came to them for help to "save the college," they responded warmly. Two alumni, Principal Guy Quinn of the Connecticut Farms School in Union and William Smith of the Abington School in Newark, in turn rallied the public-school establishment.
