The Pleasure of Your Company: The Power and Politics of Victorian Dining
Kean University and Liberty Hall Museum will collaborate on a new exhibit, The Pleasure of Your Company: The Power and Politics of Victorian Dining, exploring the life of Lucinetta (Lucy) Halsted Kean, one of the most-powerful women in Washington D.C., during the early 20th Century. The exhibit will be on display at Liberty Hall Museum beginning in May and continuing through 2008

Gingerbread House Workshop
Saturday, December 6 & 13

Children can get into the holiday spirit by building their own Gingerbread House at this popular, annual Liberty Hall event.
Time: two sessions – 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Price: $15 per child, includes all workshop materials

Christmas Tree Ornament Workshop
Sunday, December 7

Come one come all to Liberty Hall and celebrate this holiday season in historic fashion. Liberty Hall invites children to decorate the Victorian Christmas tree in the Great Hall. Each child will create four Victorian style-Christmas ornaments, two for the Liberty Hall tree and two to bring home.
Time: 10 a.m. to Noon
Price: $4 per child

Old Fashion Christmas Celebration
Saturday, December 13 & 20

Liberty Hall Museum invites you on a journey through time as staff magically recreates those memorable holiday moments of a century ago. Tour the Victorian-style mansion and relive holiday traditions of men and women who shaped our nation’s history. Guest may join the caroling in the Parlor, take waltzing lessons in the Great Hall and enjoy a one-act, turn-of-the-19th-century play in the Library.
Time: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Price: Regular admission
Reservations required – Not recommended for children under 10

Victorian Luncheon
Saturday, December 20
Step back in time and experience the art of Victorian dining with an elegant five-course luncheon. Immerse yourself in Victorian hospitality where Lucy Halstead Kean hosted the greatest luminaries of the 19th century.
Time: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Price: $60 per person
Reservations required. Formal Attire Suggested.

Wednesday Afternoon Tea
Wednesday, December 3, 10, 17 (No Tea on December 24, 31)

Afternoon Tea is served every Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the glass-enclosed porch overlooking the formal English gardens. The menu consists of a selection of sandwiches, pastries, scones and clotted cream, jams and choice of two teas. Guests interested in touring the grounds must arrive by 1 p.m. A short introductory film begins at 1:45 p.m. with tea promptly at 2 p.m.
Time: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Price: $30 per person ($27 for Liberty Hall Members) and includes a house tour
