The major in physical education provides for professional preparation in three areas of specialization: adult fitness, athletic training, and teaching certification. Students selecting the adult fitness option would be qualified for adult fitness positions in business and industry. Admission to the CAAHEP accredited athletic training program is competitive and determined through a special application and selection process (contact program director). Students selecting the athletic training option would be prepared for NATABOC certification examinations and would then be qualified athletic trainers. Students selecting the teaching option would be qualified to teach grades K-12. One of the teaching options is for physical education only; the other is for health and physical education.

A combined 2.75 G.P.A. from Kean and other higher education institutions is required for admission into the major and continuation and graduation from the program. For other admission requirements refer to the Physical Education Major’s Handbook.
