The Department of Communication offers a B.A. degree. The communication major will grapple with issues concerning the role and impact of communication behaviors in individual, institutional, social and cultural life. An integrated curriculum is offered in which all majors will take a common core of courses. The Communication degree offers the opportunity to be adapted to numerous career options while developing problem solving, listening, team-building, speaking, leadership and critical thinking abilities. Majors will also choose an area of emphasis. Areas of emphasis include Communication, and Print Journalism. The curriculum, which focuses on both theory and practice, offers fine preparation for graduate school, careers in communication, law school and civil living. Students can gain experience through the university newspaper The Tower, and a range of internships. To qualify as a major, students must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA in all course work, both in the department and overall.
