Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs

Wenzhou-Kean University

Kean, a comprehensive New Jersey state university, is seeking an Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs for its additional instructional location in Wenzhou, China. Wenzhou is one of the most vibrant and economically advanced cities on China’s East Coast, located one hour by plane and just over three hours by high-speed train from Shanghai and Hong Kong. Launched in 2012, Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) sits on approximately 500 beautiful acres and is now in the midst of a growth phase that will bring enrollment to more than 5,000 students. WKU offers a unique model of higher education provided by a comprehensive, public University, approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. All instruction is in English and all curriculum is provided by Kean USA. Operations require full integration and cooperation between Kean’s USA location and the Wenzhou, China campus.

Under the direction of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Kean’s USA campus, the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Wenzhou-Kean University, manages and coordinates all activities related to the University’s additional location in Wenzhou, China; participates in the development of division-wide policies and procedures; provides managerial direction, support and service to the academic units; and does related work as required. This is a full-time position located at the Wenzhou-Kean University campus in Wenzhou, China. Travel is required to the Kean USA campus several times each year.

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college and six years of professional experience in higher education or a similar organization, with a minimum of three years in administration is required. A doctorate degree is preferred and can be substituted for one year of the required experience. Candidate must have excellent writing and analytical skills and a record of academic and administrative accomplishment commensurate with appointment to a high level administrative position in a large and growing university.

Associate Dean, College of Natural, Applied and Health Sciences

Wenzhou-Kean University

Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Natural, Applied and Health Sciences at the Union, New Jersey campus and the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), the Associate Dean is responsible for managing academic and faculty operations on the Kean campus in Wenzhou and assists in the general administration of all aspects of the College.  The Associate Dean will manage the planning and implementation of instructional schedules; assist with faculty evaluation, development and mentoring; provide oversight for assessment activities; assist in the development of curriculum and academic programs; and perform related work as required.

This is a full-time, twelve-month position located at the Wenzhou-Kean University campus in Wenzhou, China. Travel is required to the Kean USA campus several times each year. Qualifications: Doctorate degree from an accredited institution or combination of experience in an academic or professional field related to the disciplines within the college (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Environmental and Sustainability Sciences) and a minimum of four years of progressive experience in a higher education or similar environment combining academic instruction and administration or the equivalent as determined by the University.  Candidate must have professional work experience within a multicultural setting; demonstrated leadership skills; strong customer service orientation; the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; and strong oral and written communication skills. Experience with teaching/living abroad and sensitivity to cultural differences is preferred.

Under the administrative direction of the Executive Vice Chancellor at Wenzhou-Kean University in Wenzhou, China and in coordination with the Vice President for Student Affairs at Kean USA, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs is a member of the executive administration responsible for student health and wellness initiatives; student leadership services; residential education and operations; University Center and recreational programs; campus life assessment; community standards and conduct; student financial aid; the development of student life goals and objectives related to University fiscal and global initiatives; Title IX compliance; and does related work as required. This is an international assignment and the hired employee must be willing and able to relocate to Wenzhou, China. Travel is required to the Kean USA campus.

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college in Counseling, Higher Education Administration or a related field and four years of professional experience in higher education, a similar organization or its equivalent as determined by the University is required. Doctorate degree is preferred. It is also preferred that a minimum of two years of the required experience be in student affairs administration. Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of Title IX and related laws and possess strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to write and deliver business communications and presentations clearly and effectively.

Under the direction of senior administration in the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the Kean USA campus in Union, New Jersey, the Director of Accreditation and Assessment at Wenzhou-Kean University will work closely with faculty, staff and University administration to develop, implement and manage comprehensive programs of assessment designed to meet both institutional strategic goals and accreditation standards; and does related work as required. This is an international assignment and the hired employee must be willing and able to relocate to Wenzhou, China. Travel is required to the Kean USA campus.

Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited college and three years of professional experience in an institution of higher education is required. A minimum of two (2) years of the required experience must be in academic outcomes assessment and/or institutional assessment and related activities within a higher education setting. Experience with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is preferred. An earned doctorate is also preferred and may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

Kean Entrepreneurship and Leadership Center

Managing Assistant Director II
Wenzhou-Kean University

Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Business and Public Management at Kean USA and the Associate Dean of the College of Business and Public Management at Wenzhou-Kean University, the Managing Assistant Director manages the Kean Entrepreneurship and Leadership Center (KELC) at Wenzhou-Kean University in Wenzhou, China.  At the KELC, students learn about the overall entrepreneurial process and network with faculty, staff, alumni and entrepreneurs as they acquire the education, skills and tools to succeed in the launch of a new business. The KELC provides students with the expertise, knowledge and support they need to become effective entrepreneurs and future business leaders.

The Managing Assistant Director manages external engagement and participation in projects, programs and activities that advance entrepreneurial learning and leadership skills; participates in the development and effectuation of Center goals, policies and procedures which involves development of college policy for direction of the KELC and its related programs; and does related work as required. This position is contingent upon the continued operation of the Wenzhou-Kean University extension campus and is funded by WKU. This is an international assignment and the hired employee must be willing and able to relocate to Wenzhou, China. Travel is required to the Kean USA campus.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Business or a related field from an accredited college; fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese, both oral and written; and at least two years of business experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required. Previous entrepreneurial experience and business experience/a business network in China is preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
