Flex plans are available to students, faculty and staff. This easy and convenient system allows you to deposit dollar amounts onto your Cougar ID card. The minimum purchase amount is $50.00. Flex dollars may be added via your KeanWISE login if you have a credit balance on your student account. Students without a credit balance and employees may come to Student Accounting to make a payment towards a flex plan. Flex dollars can also be purchased to supplement the mandatory meal plans required for all students living on campus. The flex dollars can be spent at any food services location, the convenience store, and the campus bookstore. KeanWISE transfers or in-person payments towards a flex plan that are received by end of business day will download to your Cougar ID card for use the next day. For your convenience Flex dollars are rolled over from semester to semester until all funds are used or a cancellation request is received by The Office of Student Accounting. The cancellation forms can be found under the student menu via your KeanWISE log in. Upon your request, unused Flex dollars will be credited back to your student account. Refunds will be issued only after any balance due on the account has been satisfied.
Please note flex plans can only be used during a term in which you are an enrolled student and/or a current Kean University employee. Refunds are only processed upon request.

In order to meet the varying eating habits and needs of our diverse student body, Gourmet Dining and Kean University have developed flexible meal plan options to suit your campus lifestyle.
Freshman Meal Plan Information
Freshman residents living in Whiteman Hall, Dougall Hall, Bartlett Hall or the New Freshman Residence Hall will be assigned the default meal plan MK-100 within 24 - 48 hours after room assignment.
The Freshman meal plan consists of unlimited dining in the new residence hall dining facility. This plan offers the most opportunity to treat yourself to any of the offerings provided with unlimited helpings. Additional Cougar Dollars can be purchased and utilized in the University Center Cafeteria and various eateries throughout campus. In addition, each Freshman Meal Plan includes two guest meals per month. At the end of every month, any unused guest meals will be forfeited.
Freshman Meal Plan MK-100 $1,710 per semester (Unlimited/$100 Cougar Dollars)
Upper-Class & Returning Freshman Student Meal Plan Information
Upper-Class students and Returning Freshman living in Sozio Hall, Rogers Hall, Burch Hall, Bartlett Hall or the New Upper-class Residence Hall will be assigned the default meal plan KB-96 within 24 - 48 hours after room assignment.
The Upper-Class student meal plan is designed for students who plan to eat a minimal number of meals in the new residence hall dining facility and still have the flexibility of grabbing a quick snack or meal at other campus food service locations. Because there are no maximum or minimum meals per week, this block plan allows you the flexibility, variety and most of all value to meet your own personal dining needs.
Upper-Class Meal Plan KB-96 $1,197 per semester (96 meals/$200 Cougar Dollars)
(Any unused Fall Cougar Dollars that come with the purchase of the MK-100 and the KB-96 Meal Plans will carry over into the spring semester. All remaining Cougar Dollars from these two plans will be forfeited at the end of the spring semester and no credits or refunds will be provided.)
New Meal Plan Option:
Upper-Classmen (Juniors and Seniors only) have the opportunity to choose a declining balance meal plan funded with all Cougar Dollars. This meal plan gives the students the ability and freedom to purchase beverages, snacks or meals anytime at any food service venue on campus. These venues include: the New Residence Hall Dining facilities, the University Center Cafeteria, the Cougar’s Den, both the Center for Academic Success and University Library Starbucks, the Barnes and Noble Café and Ursino’s. Additional venues coming to campus in 2015/16 include Smashburger, Auntie Anne’s and Jersey Mike’s Subs. (Coming Soon: Certain off campus food venues will be available through this plan – More details to come).
$1500 Cougar Dollars* per semester - Declining Balance Plan
*Declining Balance Option: $1,500 all Cougar Dollars: A 2% (of the purchased plan amount) nonrefundable Student Access Fee will be assessed to your student account if you purchase this plan. Any funds remaining in the student’s declining balance account under this plan will be refunded to the student account at the end of the Spring Semester.
GENERAL INFORMATION: Students may change their meal plan selection or assignment through the third week of the semester ONLY (first 21 days). Changes to assigned meal plans can be made on KeanWISE by selecting “Change My Meal Plan” on the “Meal Plan Options” menu. Freshman students are only able to choose the MK-100 freshman plan. Sophomores are able to choose from the MK-100 or the KB-96 plan. Upper-Classmen (Juniors and Seniors) wishing to change their meal plan assignment may choose from any Meal Plan options. Please note that you are financially responsible for any additional meal plan charges incurred as a result of changing your meal plan. The online meal plan change process for the fall semester is available from July 15, 2015 through September 22, 2015. The online meal plan process for the spring is available for January 1, 2016 through February 10, 2016.
GUEST MEALS: The MK-100 Freshman Meal Plan also includes two guest meals per month. Bring a friend and share a delicious meal before, between or after class. At the end of every month any unused guest meals will be forfeited.
MEAL PLAN LATE ASSIGNMENT POLICY: Resident students who are assigned a Meal Plan during the first three weeks (21 days) of the semester will incur the full cost of the Meal Plan. Resident students assigned a Meal Plan after the first three weeks (21 days) will incur a prorated charge based on the date of the assignment.
MEAL PLAN CANCELLATION POLICY: Students who have purchased a meal plan and withdraw from Kean University or terminate their housing contract may cancel their meal plan. The meal plan credit will be based on the date of cancellation and number of Meals/Cougar Dollars used at the time of cancellation. This cancellation request must be received within the semester the meal plan was purchased.
Prior to the beginning of the academic semester the following cancellation policy will apply: A student who cancels their housing or withdraws from the University will receive a 100% reversal of the meal plan charge.
Once the meal plan is valid and can be utilized in dining services, the following cancellation policy will apply: A student who cancels their housing or withdraws from the University will receive a credit calculated on a percentage basis (equivalent to the Residence Life cancellation policy) or the student will receive a credit based on the number of Meals/Cougar Dollars used, whichever is higher. Refunds will be issued only after any balance due on the student account has been satisfied.
MEAL PLAN REFUND APPEALS: Students may appeal a calculated refund within the semester the meal plan was purchased. Meal plan refund appeals must be directed to the Office of Student Accounting at firstname.lastname@example.org.
MEAL PLAN EXEMPTION: Students may request to receive exemption from the meal plan for a specific documented medical condition. Students must submit a letter of appeal by August 1, 2015 for the Fall 2015 semester and December 1, 2015 for the Spring 2016 semester to:
