Communications Bureau

The primary function of this Bureau is to receive and relay requests for service from the public to the individual, Unit, Bureau, Division or University Department responsible for satisfaction of the request.  This Bureau also responds to requests for data and information from members of the Department.  Members of this Bureau document, chronologically, all activities of the Operations Division. The Communications Bureau is staffed on a 24-hour per day basis by Public Safety Telecommunicators (PSTs) who are New Jersey State Certified Emergency Communications Officers/Emergency Medical Dispatchers, and operates the Department's state of the art 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center.

Records Bureau

The primary responsibilities of the Records Bureau include receiving, storing, disseminating, and disposing of the records of the Operations and Support Services Divisions; receiving, storing and disposing of property, both found and evidentiary; submitting data to the national crime reporting system; and, providing information in the compilation of other reports as required by law or Federal regulations.  This Bureau is also responsible to provide support/staffing to the Parking Services Unit (which is physically housed within the Bureau located just inside the main lobby of Police Headquarters) and for coordination/retention of Department time & attendance records.  The Records Bureau may be contacted directly at 908-737-4810 during business hours for those who require a copy of a police report, assistance with registration for a Parking Decal, or to inquire about found/recovered property.

Security & Safety Bureau

This Bureau is responsible to observe for criminal or suspicious activity, and report it to the Operations Division.  Security Officers are non-sworn, uniformed members of the Department employed as a force multiplier and a visual deterrence to criminal or disorderly conduct.  Security Officers can be assigned to a fixed post, a Directed Patrol, or a roving patrol by foot or vehicle. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, safety escorts, door openings, traffic control, handling of lost property, enforcement of campus parking regulations, and assisting or supporting the Operations Division as directed or required.  Anyone on University property may request a walking safety escort from this Bureau by contacting Police Dispatch at 908-737-4800, 24 hours a day.
