Premiere Stages has partnered with the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NY-NATAS) to offer Inside Television, a class for Kean University students that features renowned speakers from the television industry.
Boot Camp
Each August Premiere Stages offers an intensive four-day "boot camp" for Kean Performance majors.
The theme of the 2007 Boot Camp was "Making the Perfect Scene. The Boot Camp was led by Broadway actors, Norbert Leo Butz and Michelle Federer. Norbert and Michelle coached Kean students on contemporary scenes which were showcased as works-in-progress for a panel of professional directors. An interactive Q&A and reception followed the showcase.
The theme of the 2006 Premiere Artists Boot Camp was "Acting for the Camera". Television and film director/producer Linda Laundra and TV/film actor David Laundra taught the residency, along with talent agent and acting coach Terri Cole. A screening of the students' work, shot in the Kean Television Studio, was held in the Wilkins Theatre. Excerpts from this showcase may currently be seen on KUTV.
The theme of the 2005 Premiere Artists Boot Camp was "The Business of Theatre". Topics covered included Voice, taught by Robert Marks and Richard Troxell; Dance/Movement, taught by Broadway choreographer and actor Gerry McIntyre; Acting, taught by Broadway director Richard Sabellico; Marketing/PR, taught by publicist Richard Kornberg, and Audition Techniques, taught by agents Penny Luedtke and Charles Bodner and casting director Brette Goldstein. Students had a showcase performance and reception at the Wilkins Theatre.
