FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana
UNION, N.J. Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, a Spanish-dance company based in New York City, will perform their full-length ballet Mano a Mano, at Kean University on Sunday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Wilkins Theatre, located on the main campus, 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J.
Mano a Mano is a rich dramatization of the life of Manolete, the legendary Spanish bullfighter, choreographed by company member Antonio Hidalgo. The New York Times has hailed it as “an ingenious production,” and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette called it “a flamboyant and tantalizing dip into the world of flamenco.”
Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana was founded in 1983 by Roberto Lorca and
Carlota Santana with the mission of breaking boundaries between cultures
using the universal spirit of flamenco. Since Lorca’s untimely death
in 1987, the company has flourished under the direction of Santana, who
has actively encouraged creativity and innovation in her young dancers,
choreographers and musicians, all the while maintaining high artistic
standards and staying faithful to flamenco’s powerful traditions.
