Rev. William D. Watley to Present Lecture at Kean University

UNION, N.J. — Kean University will hold its annual luncheon commemorating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Tuesday, January 21. This year’s guest speaker, Rev. William D. Watley, Ph.D, CEO and secretary of the New Jersey Commerce & Economic Growth Commission, will deliver a lecture on King’s legacy. Watley is also senior pastor of the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Newark, N.J. and author of Roots of Resistance: The Nonviolent Ethic of Martin Luther King, Jr.

All are welcome to attend this event, which will take place at Kean’s University Center in Room 228. Lunch will be served from 12:30 p.m. to 1:50 p.m., and Watley is scheduled to speak from 2 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. The celebration is sponsored by the Office of Africana Studies, Pan African Student Union, and Office of Student Life and Leadership Development.
