Kean University Offers Certification Program Workshop for Small Business Owners

UNION, N.J. – The Small Business Development Center of Kean University will present a free seminar titled Certifications: Federal and State Procurement Programs on Friday, March 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Elizabeth Public Library Auditorium, 11 South Broad Street, Elizabeth, N.J.

Madeline Britman, director of procurement programs for the New Jersey Small Business Development Center, will be on hand to show attendees the requirements, procedures and benefits of both federal and state certification programs. The federal programs covered include 8(a), Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) and Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Zone. The state certification and registration programs include those for Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Women’s Business Enterprises (WBE).

The workshop is co-sponsored by the Elizabeth Public Library and Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce. Special arrangements for people with disabilities can be made upon request. Be sure to bring business cards and brochures for networking purposes.
