Kean University Presents
Pianist Alicia Gabriela Martinez
UNION, N.J. Kean University is privileged to employ world-renowned chamber musicians as affiliate artists and professors who enthrall music lovers with special concerts and students with an outstanding opportunity to learn from the best. On Monday, March 1, at 8 p.m., these musicians will reach out to the community with their A Perfect 10 concert at Kean’s Wilkins Theatre at 1000 Morris Ave. in Union, N.J. Pianist Alicia Gabriela Martinez will join the artists as a special guest performer.
The concert title results from the sum of two perfect fives – quintets, that is. A celebration of chamber music masterpieces, the program will feature Dvorák’s Double Bass Quintet in G – the finest work of double-bass chamber music – and the Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F Minor – the greatest of all piano quintets.
Martinez, a Venezuelan national, comes from a family with rich music-making traditions. She took her first musical steps under her mother’s tutelage. At age 19, she can already look back on an impressive list of recital and concerto performances with orchestras such as the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Super World Orchestra, Orquestra Simon Bolivar, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Longwood Symphony Orchestra, Venezuela Philharmonic Orchestra, Venezuela Symphonic Orchestra, under the batons of Dirk Brosse, Lawrence Foster, Klauspeter Seibel, Otto Werner-Mueller, Naozumi Yamamoto, Alfredo Rugeles, Kate Tamarkin, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Eduardo Marturet, David Machado, Jordan Tang, William Curry, Francisco Noya, Mark Laycock and Yens Georg Bachman.
