Masters of Mexican Music at Kean University

UNION, N.J. – Explore the musical traditions and rich diversity of an important growing segment of the U.S. population with the Masters of Mexican Music, a program featuring performers from four distinct regional traditions, on Saturday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Wilkins Theatre, Kean University, 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J.

The group Marimba Chiapas will present the marimba of southern Mexico; the mariachi of Jolisco will be performed by Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano; Veracruz Trio Jarocho led by Jose Gutierrez will present the Veracruz harp ensemble; and the accordion-based conjusto of the Texas-Mexican border area will be performed by Los Fantasmas del Valle. Traditional Mexican dance will also be featured with the mariachi and veracruz ensembles.
