Masters of Mexican Music at Kean University
UNION, N.J. Explore the musical traditions and rich diversity
of an important growing segment of the U.S. population with the Masters
of Mexican Music, a program featuring performers from four distinct
regional traditions, on Saturday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Wilkins Theatre,
Kean University, 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J.
The group Marimba Chiapas will present the marimba of southern
Mexico; the mariachi of Jolisco will be performed by Mariachi
Los Camperos de Nati Cano; Veracruz Trio Jarocho led by Jose Gutierrez
will present the Veracruz harp ensemble; and the accordion-based
conjusto of the Texas-Mexican border area will be performed by
Los Fantasmas del Valle. Traditional Mexican dance will also be featured
with the mariachi and veracruz ensembles.
Tickets are $25 for the public; $19 for seniors and alumni; and $15 for
students and children. Black-and-white and color photographs are available
