Ukrainian Arts Festival at Kean University
UNION, N.J. –The Ukrainian Arts Festival, a colorful, spectacular cultural event featuring numerous musicians, singers and dancers, will be held on Sunday, May 2, at 3 p.m., at Kean University’s Wilkins Theatre, 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J.
Ukrainian artists who will perform include the internationally acclaimed Syzokryli Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. Under the direction of noted choreographer Roma Pryma Bohachersky, the group is composed of young students and professionals who devote their spare time to studying and promoting Ukrainian dance. Featuring a rich repertoire of regional folk dances as well as stylized character and interpretative pieces, the ensemble has performed since 1978 in venues such as Alice Tully Hall and Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City and Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Other guest artists scheduled are the Sudarushka Ensemble; Anatoly Panchosny, world-renowned basso; Leonard M. Davis, balalaika soloist; Sergei & Sergei, comic violinists; and the Carnivale Ensemble of folk-instrument musicians.
Tickets are $25 for the public; $19 for seniors and alumni; and $15 for
