Linda Eder to Perform at Kean University
UNION, N.J. Broadway and concert star Linda Eder
will kick off Kean University’s 2004-2005 concert season on Sunday,
September 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Wilkins Theatre, located at 1000 Morris
Avenue in Union, N.J. Considered by many critics to be the pre-eminent
female vocalist of her generation, Eder evokes the very spirit of legendary
interpreters of American popular music such as Judy Garland and Ella Fitzgerald,
while, at the same time, achieving a style that in uniquely contemporary
and distinctly her own.
Initially discovered on the national talent-competition show Star
Search, where she reigned for an unprecedented 13 weeks, Eder is
best known for her debut role as Lucy in the original cast of the long-running
Broadway show Jekyll & Hyde. She has also released seven
solo albums and had the ultimate honor of performing in three sold-out
one-woman shows at Carnegie Hall. USA Today has said that Eder
has “a captivating presence and a Streisand-esque singing voice
that elevates everything it touches.”
Tickets are $35 for the public; $30 for seniors and alumni; and $25 for
