Dr. Dawood Farahi
to Give Opening Day Address on September 1
UNION, N.J. Kean University’s 17th president,
Dr. Dawood Farahi, will present the University’s Opening Day Address
on Wednesday, September 1, at 2 p.m. in Wilkins Theatre on the University’s
main campus at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union, N.J. Faculty, staff, administrators
and students are expected to be in attendance. In his speech, titled Opportunity
and Excellence, Farahi will discuss new developments, such as the
formation of the School of Visual and Performing arts, which offers 12
scholarships to talented students this year, and the New Jersey Center
for Science and Technology Education, which offers five-year Bachelor
of Arts/Master of Arts scientist-teacher and Bachelor of Science/Master
of Science professional-researcher programs and provides full-tuition
scholarships for all students admitted to the program for their first
two years of study. He will also share his vision for the continuing growth
of institution, which provides superior academics at the lowest tuition
among New Jersey’s universities.
Other opening week activities include an EPIC and Part-Time Student Orientation
on Monday, August 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at University Center; a New
Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 31, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at
University Center; a Graduate Student Orientation on Wednesday, September
1, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the University Center Little Theatre; as
well as numerous meetings and events for new and veteran faculty, staff
and administrators.
Classes will begin on Thursday, September 2.
