FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE More Than 1,000 Sign Up to Vote at Kean University UNION, N.J. –In view of the upcoming presidential election, Kean University and Democracy Today, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to registering voters, is proud to announce that the 1000 Votes, 1000 Voices campaign to boost voter registration among Kean students was a success. In fact, the goal to register a minimum of 1,000 Kean students through the month of September was exceeded, as a total of 1,232 new voters registered during the monthlong event. "One of the main tenets of Kean University's mission is to teach
our students to serve as active and contributing members of their communities,”
said Matthew Caruso, assistant to Kean University President Dawood Farahi,
who helped organize the event. "The success of the 1000 Votes,
1000 Voices program can be attributed to the dedication and effort
of our student leaders who have always played an active role in campus
governance. Through their efforts with this initiative, they are showing
their determination to carry that involvement to local, state and national
levels." In addition to Farahi, Sen. Raymond J. Lesniak of the 20th
Legislative District, and Trustee Richard J. Kinney, Esq., many members
of the community came out to show their support of this mission
