First Take Your Kids to College Event UNION, N.J. –As the first in the state, Kean University’s Nathan Weiss Graduate College invites parents and children to a Take Your Kids to College event, on Saturday, January 29, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the main campus at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union, N.J. Parents will have the opportunity to meet faculty members in addition to Dr. Kristie Reilly, dean of the Nathan Weiss Graduate College, while their children are safely involved in activities such as a dinosaur dig and PowerPoint lecture conducted by paleontologists Dr. Xing Xu, who discovered a four-winged dinosaur, and Kean’s own world-renowned Dr. Xiabo Yu, who unearthed 400,000,000-year-old fossil fishes in China. The children will be encouraged to draw and paint their own dinosaurs, make dinosaur imprints in clay, have their pictures taken for insertion into a key ring, listen to story time, have their faces painted, and write and perform skits with members of Kean’s Department of Theatre. The Saturday 29 event is meant as an “appetizer” for parents who wish to begin graduate studies over the summer and on Saturdays. Information about the classes will be available at the Open House, as well as an introduction of the opportunity for the children to learn valuable concepts in the arts and sciences while the parents are in class.
