Kean University Brings a World of Wonder to Print
UNION, N.J. –Kean University’s Office of University Relations and The Star-Ledger have partnered to publish a new book titled World of Wonder: Exploring the Realms of History, Science, Nature and Technology. The text brings together 90 of the most fascinating subjects surveyed by the World of Wonder series, which has run in The Star-Ledger each week with the support of a sponsorship from Kean since March 2000, and is distributed at no cost to hundreds of classrooms across the Garden State.
Created by author and gifted graphic artist Laurie Triefeldt, the World of Wonder series is now syndicated and featured in more than 100 other newspapers worldwide. Some of the topics featured in the new book are ancient societies such as Greece, Rome and Egypt; historic eras like the Industrial Revolution and the Great Depression; flora and fauna such as cacti and dolphins; notable personalities like Ben Franklin and Christopher Columbus; and many more that will bring hours of enjoyment to adults and children alike.
Kean President Dawood Farahi penned the text’s introduction. “This book represents a landmark in a great educational series,” he wrote. “And it is just the beginning. May the series continue to spark enlightenment in young hearts and minds. I eagerly await the day I speak to the student on the campus of Kean University who tells me that the passion and curiosity he feels for his chosen major was initially fueled by what he read in World of Wonder.”
World of Wonder: Exploring the Realms of History, Science, Nature
and Technology is now available for purchase in the Kean University
bookstore and on The Star-Ledger Web site at http://www.nj.com/worldofwonder
