Holistic Center for the Integration of Body, Mind and Spirit Winter
and Spring Offerings at Kean University

UNION, N.J. ––The Holistic Center for the Integration of Body, Mind and Spirit at Kean University, located at 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J., is offering the general public a variety of inexpensive courses, seminars, workshops and training sessions this winter and spring.

A Reiki Demonstration is slated for Thursday, February 17, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. During the presentation, a certified Reiki master and practitioner will share her experience with this holistic- healing therapy, and give some background on its origin, history and learning process. Reiki works with the body’s energy system to promote good health and healing. Attendees will have an opportunity to experience a free 15-minute treatment. There is a fee of $5.

On successive Tuesdays from February 22 through April 19, Beginning Yoga will be held from 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. With the guidance of a certified yoga instructor, participants will explore the basic postures of yoga and become familiar with techniques in breath work, meditation and concentration. There will be no class on March 8. There is a fee of $104 for the eight sessions.

Learn about the Ayervedic approach to nutritional health, similar to the work of Deepak Chopra, from an Ayervedic consultant during a session, titled Ayervedic Nutrition, on Thursday, February 24, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is a fee of $27.

On successive Wednesdays from March 16 through April 20, an energizing workshop, titled T’ai Chi Chih: Joy Through Movement, will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Individuals of any age and any ability can practice the 20 simple, fluid movements of this moving meditation, which is said to regulate blood pressure, reduce weight and stress, and increase energy. There is a fee of $89 for the six sessions.

De-stress and re-energize at the semi-annual Day of Healing on Friday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the University Center. Certified practitioners in therapeutic massage, Reiki, integrated-energy therapy, reflexology, shiatsu and other healing modalities will be available for half- and full-hour private sessions. These modalities can afford such physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits as stress reduction, increased energy and relief from acute and chronic pain. Special introductory rates include $30 for a 30-minute massage or reflexology session, $40 for a 45-minute Reiki or integrated-energy therapy treatment, and a 10 percent discount on two or more sessions. Receive first-degree attunements in Johrei (White Light) Reiki from the Usui System of natural healing during level I, II and III Reiki: Trainings in Energy Work being offered from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on successive Saturdays from April 9 through April 23, respectively. Learn about an approach to nutritional health that doesn’t involve the use of chemicals or prescriptions during a session, titled Naturopathic Nutrition, on Wednesday, April 20 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The fee is $24.
