Pulitzer Prize-Nominated Playwright to Visit Kean University
UNION, N.J. –Kean University continues its new
master-class and lecture series entitled Premiere Artists with a visit
from Lee Blessing, Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-nominated playwright,
on Friday, March 18, at noon in Hutchinson Hall, Room J-100, Kean University,
1000 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J. Admission is free.
Blessing has written numerous works for stage, film and television. His
Broadway hit play, A Walk in the Woods, also ran in Moscow and
London and was featured on PBS's American Playhouse. He has garnered
several distinguished awards, and three of his plays have been cited in
TIME magazine’s list of the year’s Ten Best Plays. During
his lecture at Kean, Blessing will discuss his notable career and answer
questions from the audience.
Premiere Artists is an offshoot of Premiere Stages, the new professional
Actors’ Equity Association theatre program at Kean University, and
features high-profile artists as they participate in one-day residencies
and interact with the campus community. Blessing’s March visit will
be followed with an Acting for Television master class and question-and-answer
session on Wednesday, April 6, with Emmy Award-winning actress Kim Zimmer
and director A.C. Weary. Students participating in the Acting for
Television master class will also visit the set of Guiding Light
on Friday, April 15, for a tour of the studio and a subsequent question-and-answer
session with representatives from the show.
