New Music Scholarship at Kean University
UNION, N.J. –The Kean University Foundation,
with support from PBD Associates, Inc., a small foundation based in South
Orange, N.J., has started a new scholarship program to support a talented
vocal student who wishes to major in music at Kean University.
The president of PBD Associates, Patricia Brady-Danzig, initiated this
program. She is an international recording artist who has garnered accolades
for her superb musicianship in concerts all over the world. A classically
trained soprano, she encompasses a vast repertoire across many styles
and genres, and in recent seasons she has broadened her range even further
to feature Irish ballads, Romanian folk music, and popular American melodies,
in orchestrations created for her by the music world's greatest arrangers.
Among her many awards, Brady-Danzig has been named Woman of Distinction
by The Star-Ledger, and Irish American Magazine listed
her as one of the 100 Outstanding Americans of 2000. She formed PDB to
help other musicians gain exposure. “We all need support in our
careers,” said Brady-Danzig. “I’ve been very fortunate
in mine, and so I want to share.”
The total amount of the scholarship is $1,000. Candidates may transfer
from another institution or be preparing for his or her freshman year
in college. Applicants must apply for entry in the fall 2005 semester,
complete a scholarship application and participate in an audition. For
more information, contact Dr. Mark Terenzi, Kean University professor,
by calling (908) 737-4436 or sending an e-mail to mterenzi@kean.edu.
