Fuego Brings Flamenco Dance to Kean University

UNION, N.J. ––– The Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre Company will bring the passion of Iberian dance to life with their new flamenco-dance production, Fuego, on Saturday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. at Kean University’s Wilkins Theatre, located at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union, N.J.

The dancers, singers and musicians of the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre Company fuse the traditions of traditional Spanish flamenco with the evolving spirit of dance in Fuego, which also features guest artist Edwin Aparicio, world-renowned dancer and choreographer. This is the newest work to be presented by the company, which was originally founded in 1965 by María Alba, known to many aficionados as being the greatest exponent of the seguiriya and many other Spanish dance drama pieces in the Unites States. Today, the company is comprised of extraordinary dancers and choreographers who remain true to the company’s original mission of allowing audiences to experience the breathtaking richness and beauty of all Spanish dance art forms in their full context.

Funding for the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre Company for this performance is provided in part by the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the American Music Center. Tickets are $25 for the general public and $15 for children. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Kean University Wilkins Theatre Box Office at 908-737-SHOW (7469). Black-and-white and color images are available upon request.
