The Kean University Symphonic Wind Ensemble
To Perform Works by Erickson, Hummel, Jacob, Mennin and Yurko

UNION, N.J. - The Kean University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will present a program of works for chamber winds and concert band on Thursday, April 26, at 8 p.m. in the Wilkins Theatre for the Performing Arts on the main campus located at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union, N.J. The concert is free and open to the public.

The program will feature the Second Symphony for Band by Frank Erickson. Other works to be performed will include two works for chamber winds, the Octet Partita in E flat by the early 19 th century Austrian composer Johann Hummel, and New Wine in Old Bottles by the 20 th century British composer Gordon Jacob.

In addition to the Erickson symphony, the wind ensemble will perform two other works for full band, including Peter Mennin's Canzona and In Memoriam ; and Kristina by New Jersey composer Bruce Yurko. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Thomas Connors, professor in the Kean University Department of Music.
