Developing a Winning Business Plan

The Small Business Development Center of Kean University will present a workshop, entitled Developing a Winning Business Plan, on Friday, January 18, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Business Resource Center, located on the second floor of the Department of Labor Building, at 200 West Second Street in Plainfield, N.J.

Herb Caesar, president of CED Solutions in Englewood, N.J., will discuss how to develop an effective business plan for planning purposes or for financing. Topics covered will include what investors and lenders look for; the contents of a business plan, including the executive summary, management and personnel, marketing strategy and location; the financial data and supporting documentation.

This seminar is one of six offered as part of the Winter 2008 Small Business Series. Held from January 11 through February 15 at the center, the series features weekly seminars for aspiring business owners on a wide range of business topics. Those participants who attend at least four of the workshops will receive a certificate recognizing their achievements.

Co-sponsors of the series include SCORE®, The Incubator One-Stop Service in Plainfield, N.J.; City of Plainfield, N.J.; Plainfield, N.J., Chamber of Commerce; UCEDC; the U.S. Small Business Administration; N.J. Commerce and Economic Growth Tourism Commission; and the Union County Workforce Investment Board.
