Legal Aspects of Starting and Running a Small Business
The Small Business Development Center of Kean University will present a seminar, entitled Legal Aspects of Starting and Running a Small Business, on Friday, January 11, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Business Resource Center, located on the second floor of the Department of Labor Building, at 200 West Second Street in Plainfield, N.J.
This workshop, conducted by Richard Lampert, Esq., of Dunn and Lampert, LLC, in Paramus, N.J., will cover the numerous laws that affect the formation and operation of a small business. Included in his discussion, Lampert will address the legal liabilities that might otherwise damage a small business.
Topics to be covered include selecting the legal business structure, choosing a name for the business, licenses and permits, employment law matters, and real estate and environmental law concerns. Other topics include financing the business, ongoing corporate record keeping, developing contracts and forms for use with customers, suppliers and consultants.
This seminar is one of six offered as part of the Winter 2008 Small Business Series. Held from January 11 through February 15 at the center, the series features weekly seminars for aspiring business owners on a wide range of business topics.
