Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Miles Long to Perform Jazz/Funk Concert at Kean University - Cancelled

UNION, N.J. – Kean University will host a concert by Miles Long, a jazz and funk band headed by Malcolm-Jamal Warner, on Sunday, March 9, at 7 p.m., in the Wilkins Theatre, located at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union, N.J. Popular on the underground music scene, Miles Long has performed at major jazz festivals and has opened for such acts as Earl Klugh and the late Luther Vandross. In their second CD, Love and Other Social Issues, Warner and his crew combine soulful jazz, funk and dynamic spoken word.

“I make music that, first and foremost, I want to hear,” wrote Warner on his MySpace profile. “I make sincere music,” he added. “As a poet and a bass player, I give you my heart.”

Born in nearby Jersey City, N.J., Warner is a respected actor, director, and musician who first rose to national prominence starring in the celebrated long-running television series The Cosby Show as Theo Huxtable. He has continued to achieve success as an actor, poet and bass player of Miles Long. His recent appearances include several independent films as well as Fools Gold starring Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson and Donald Sutherland.
