Marketing Strategies for Small Business

UNION, N.J. – The Small Business Development Center of Kean University will present a workshop, titled Marketing Strategies for Small Business, on Wednesday, August 20, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at PNC Bank, located at 202 Park Avenue in Plainfield, N.J. Ample parking is located behind the bank on West Second Street.

Conducted by Ellen Silverman, president of ESAmarketing in Pluckemin, N.J., this workshop will show guests how to define, target, and reach the markets where services or products will be most successful. She will also discuss how to understand a competitive edge; develop USP (Unique Selling Proposition), and create a powerful low-cost, high-impact MAP (Marketing Action Plan) to deliver a message.

This workshop is one of six seminars included in the Summer 2008 Small Business Certificate Series. Held from July 9 to August 20 at PNC Bank, the series features weekly workshops for aspiring business owners on a wide range of business topics, such as developing entrepreneurial skills, financing a small business, buying an existing business or franchise, and public speaking. Participants who attend at least four of the workshops receive certificates recognizing their achievements.

Co-sponsors of the series include SCORE®, The Incubator One-Stop Service in Plainfield, N.J.; City of Plainfield, N.J.; Plainfield, N.J., Chamber of Commerce; UCEDC; the U.S. Small Business Administration; N.J. Commerce and Economic Growth Tourism Commission; and the Union County Workforce Investment Board.
