Kean University’s Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Urban Leadership Program Seeking Applicants
Union, N.J. --- The Nathan Weiss Graduate College at Kean University is pleased to announce its search for the third cohort of students for the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Urban Leadership program for fall 2010 semester. Interested candidates are invited to attend a Graduate Open House on Sunday, October 4, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nathan Weiss Graduate College, located on Kean’s East Campus, 215 Hillside Avenue, Hillside, N.J.
The Ed.D. in Urban Leadership is a 90-credit program (master’s 36, doctorate 54 credits) designed to prepare urban educational leaders for schools, school districts and community agencies. The program is the first of its kind in New Jersey and only one of a handful of similar programs nationwide.
The program brings together school district personnel and leaders of community educational agencies to address education issues in urban settings; special needs of urban districts and other educational agencies; and to provide knowledge base and necessary skills for urban leaders to close the teaching/learning gaps of pre-K-12 students in urban areas.
Candidates who complete the doctoral program will be eligible for the provisional Principal’s and provisional School Administrator’s Certificates of Eligibility with Advanced Standing and will receive permanent certification after completing other state requirements for testing and mentorship.
Ed.D. in Urban Leadership program applications will be available at the Open House. The program director and additional faculty will be available for questions and to discuss the program requirements and deadlines.
