Kean Graduate Earns Honorable Mention in International Creativity Annual Awards

UNION, NJ - Jamie Maimone, a Dunellen, N.J., resident, who graduated from Kean in 2009 with a B.F.A. in Visual Communication/Graphic Design, won an Honorable Mention in the 39th Creativity Annual Awards, an international design competition.

"I'm very excited about earning an acknowledgment from a competition as large as the Creativity Annual Awards," said Maimone. "As a recent graduate, it is difficult and often exhausting to cross the line from student to professional. Having a merit from a competition such as this will give me the exposure to make crossing that line a little easier."

Maimone earned the nod in the professional category for the poster she created for the Kean production of Our Lady of 121st Street. "I'm very excited about earning an acknowledgment from a competition as large as the Creativity Annual Awards," said Maimone. "As a recent graduate, it is difficult and often exhausting to cross the line from student to professional. Having a merit from a competition like this will give me the exposure to make crossing that line a little easier."

According to the Creativity judges, thousands of entries were received for this year’s contest from all over the world, with the winners selected by this year's panel representing 36 countries and 32 U.S. states. Entries were considered by the judges to be an example of outstanding creativity and design.

"Jamie combined her illustration and design skills to great effect on this poster, and I am happy to see her receive the recognition she so deserves," said Steven Brower, director of The Design Studio at Kean. "Her hard work paid off, aided of course by her talent."
