Kean Students Drop off Toys for Local Children to U.S. Marines
UNION, NJ - Displaying genuine Christmas and holiday spirit, 17 Kean University student organizations, along with Liberty Hall Museum staff and the Kean University Service Corps collected more than 500 toys for the 2009 Toys for Tots campaign. The campaign benefitted needy children in Union County.
On December 17, more than 25 students, faculty and staff gathered at Liberty Hall, where a university trolley was loaded with the toys. The toys were delivered to a U.S. Marines drop location in Edison (N.J.), and then distributed to local children in need.
Following the toy drop off, Liberty Hall hosted a reception for all who assisted with the program. John Kean, a former marine who grew up at Liberty Hall and whose family lived in the home for nearly two centuries, welcomed and thanked the guests for their support. Guests at the reception also toured the museum.
