E-Business Certificate

The E-Business Institute is designed for the entrepreneur and the business professional to help grow and improve their business effective e-Commerce capabilities, such as authoring, designing, and publishing effective websites. Earn an E-Business Institute Certificate over the summer by completing three of the following courses: MIS 5500-Web Authoring, MGS 5040-Introduction to E-Business, CPS 5970- Web Programming, or GCOM 5650-Web Publishing. Students may use these credits toward a graduate degree in Kean’s MSMIS program. For further information, please contact the MSMIS office at msmis@kean.edu or call us at 908-737-4190.

NOTE: Individuals applying for this certificate program must show evidence of a bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university.

Introduction to E-Business

Become familiar with fundamental topics in Electronic Commerce (e Commerce). Explore both managerial and technical issues. Learn about the impact of this new resource in terms of increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization’s processes, adding value to current business practices, aiding in the development of new products and services and improving interactions with the organization’s stakeholders. (3 graduate credits)

Web and Print Publishing

Analyze web and print publishing requirements and practices, including concepts, composition, production, and storage. Explore various techniques used for conventional publishing, digital publishing and copyrights. (3 graduate credits)

GCOM 5650, MTTh 7/05-8/11, 5:45-7:50pm

Web Programming

Receive an introduction to programming on the Internet and the technical aspects of the World Wide Web. Become familiar with topics such as HTML, Web server administration, CGI programming, JavaScript, Java, Data access, Web graphics and Internet security. You will be expected to complete a programming project. Prerequisite: Proficiency in a high-level programming language such as C or Java. (3 graduate credits)

CPS 5970-01, MTTh 7/05-8/11, 8:00-10:05pm

Web Authoring

Explore design principles for websites, including HTML, DHTML, CGI, and JavaScript. Upon completion of the course, you will have a working knowledge of how to design, author and publish effective websites.

MIS 5500

NOTE: MIS students completing three of the four above courses will qualify for a Certificate in E-Business.
