Program StructureThe four components of Kean’s Executive MBA program together provide graduates with the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to the marketplace in today’s rapidly changing business environment.
Core Knowledge in Key Business DisciplinesThis component of the Kean EMBA program provides students with rigorous exposure to the theoretical concepts, analytical techniques, and competencies essential to understanding business and organizational processes. An important objective of the Kean EMBA program is to create a global mind set among the students, so traditional subjects such as Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing are taught as basic tools for successful managerial decision-making in the new global environment. Advanced Knowledge in Management IssuesThe integrated and cross-functional curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. Students acquire skills with a strong emphasis in such areas as: leadership, team management, negotiation and entrepreneurial strategies and processes, technology evaluation and application, problem-solving and decision-making techniques, global awareness, and total quality management process development. The Kean EMBA program educates students to be confident and skilled in the power and capabilities of information technology use in management and operation. The curriculum is designed to train students in cross-cultural sensitivity and to create an appreciation of the challenges of managing in a multi-cultural business environment. Case studies are used extensively throughout the curriculum to develop critical thinking and decision-making skills. Specialized Discipline AreasThe specialized area of the Kean EMBA program is an integrated set of courses that build extensively on one of the discipline areas in the core. The coursework incorporates three elective courses, which may be selected from the functional areas of Finance, Information Technology/E-business, Management, or Marketing to create a concentration. The objective is to enrich the perspective of the student with courses that will introduce him/her to managing a business function. Capstone ExperienceThis is an integrative course required of all students in their final semester. The course is based on a global business simulation game. The students work in teams and integrate all the knowledge they have acquired by making decisions in a simulated business environment across all functional areas. The students compete in this business simulation game against teams from all over the world.
