| My Pedagogic Idea: | ||||||||||||||||||||||
These syllabi will soon be available online: | ||||||||||||||||||||||
My idea of teaching is exercised by a singular proposition and two questions. The
proposition is that I cannot teach a student anything that the student does not already know. And the questions are: (1) What intellectual passions (in students) does this course evoke or serve? and (2) Where are the intellectual-emotional disturbances for students in this course? I believe that both student and teacher must CO-DISCOVER these passions and disturbances, for it is within the RHYTHM of such passions, such disturbances that we connect as student and teacher. Indeed, it is within this rhythm that EDUCATION is fostered. Thus, I need but to ask: Shall WE get to that rhythm? |
