How to get a Certificate of Eligibility?

  1. Apply on line -   http://www.nj.gov/education/educators/license/tcis/  When you apply this way, you get a tracking number. Save this number, it is very IMPORTANT.
  1. Pay with a credit card, or you can send a money order.  Credit card on line is faster
  1. Send OFFICIAL transcripts showing date of conferral of degree, GPA =, greater than 2.75, and a 30 credit Liberal Arts major for Elementary K-5 cert, or 30 credits in the field you wish to teach (as long as it is a teaching field).  WRITE the TRACKING NO on the envelope (or on the transcript) to Office of Licensure and Academic Credentials, NJ Department of Education, 100 Riverview Plaza, P.O. Box 500, Trenton, NJ  08625-0500
  1. The test scores go automatically (electronically) to the NJDOE as long as you take the exam In NJ (Check score report to make sure the social security no is in the center upper portion of the score report form), send xerox copy of score report (don't forget to write the Tracking no on the score report).  The DOE doesn't actually accept the paper copy of the score report.  By sending the copy you alert them that the score is probably in their computer (which is the official source of the score for the examiners)

Send items 3 and 4 together!
