Hettinger came to Dr. Abraham's MGS 3040 class to speak about building a
profitable small and medium MIS business to his students.
Rich is the CEO of InfoWerx Software, Inc. a
global software development company with offices located in the United
States, India, and Africa. Over the past 23 years, he has held executive
positions in sales, finance, operations at Miller Brewing, A.G. Edwards,
AT&T, Norstan, and AIG. Most recently, Rich was VP and GM at AIG
Technologies (a wholly owned subsidiary of the American International
Group), where he was responsible for creating a new profit center to develop
and sell insurance-related enterprise software solutions and information
Rich began his career as an account executive
with the Miller Brewing Company. As a healthcare economist at AT&T in
the mid-1990's, he was one of the primary architects of the largest change
in AT&T's history to its medical, dental, and vision benefits programs.
The transition of $1.3 billion in annual health benefits, from indemnity
insurance coverage to managed care programs, affected over 300,000 employees
and retirees and remains in place today. In 1998, Rich joined Norstan
as Director of Consulting, where he was responsible for establishing the
company's IT consulting practice for telcom customers. In 2002,
he was recruited by AIG to start up AIG Technologies.
Rich is a graduate of William Paterson
University, where he received a BA degree in Economics, and Rutgers
University, where he received a MS degree in labor and industrial relations,
with an emphasis on labor economics. He has also completed
post-graduate studies in statistics at Columbia University. Rich is an
active member of the Society for Information Management (SIM), the foremost
society in the US for senior Information Technology executives.
