Kean University Chemistry-Physics is a student-centered department comprising about one-hundred undergraduate chemistry majors, eleven faculty, and four staff. We offer four undergraduate curriculum options in chemistry and will shortly add a fifth (see News). In addition, the department is planning an MS degree in Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry.

We support a strong commitment to close mentoring of our students with carefully designed curricula, effective advisement, and an active undergraduate research program. Our curriculum options provide students with flexibility in designing their schedules and careful faculty advisement insures that student career goals are met by the courses they choose. Our research program encompasses projects in biochemistry, chemoinformatics, computer molecular modeling, inorganic chemistry, and organic chemistry, among others. Participation in research gives students the real-world research experience they need to make the transition from student to scientist and most projects result in professional publication.
